ABOUT THE MOVIE
Two Schools, One Islam is a collaborative documentary film created through a partnership
between Edith Cowan University, Curtin University, UIN Walisongo-Semarang, and Monash
University. The film received generous support from the Australia-Indonesia Institute and
the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
TEAM MEMBERS
Melanie Brooks is an Associate Dean for Research and Associate Professor of Educational Leadership in the School of Education, Edith Cowan University. Melanie’s research investigates how school leaders influence schooling structures, policies, and practices based on their faith and/or faith identity, with a specific focus on Islam and Islamic school leadership. Jeffrey S. Brooks is Head of School and Professor of Educational Leadership in the School of Education at Curtin University. He is a two-time J. William Fulbright Senior Scholar alumnus who has conducted studies in the United States, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and other cross-national contexts. His research focuses broadly on educational leadership, examining the way leaders influence (and are influenced by) socio-cultural and organizational dynamics such as social justice, racism, globalisation and school reform. Dr Fida Sanjakdar is an Associate Professor in the School of Education, Culture and Society, in the Faculty of Education at Monash University. Her research expertise lies in the areas of critical sexuality education, the intersections between religion, culture and sexuality education, Islamic Education and Islamic schooling, teaching controversial issues and real- world ethics.

Dr Agus Mutohar is Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training at UIN Walisongo. His research expertise lies in the areas of Islamic Education, School leadership, and Indonesian Education Policy. He received scholarship from Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education, Ford Foundation, and US Department of State.
